growing, growing, growing!

noah stats

height: 25 inches (50%)
weight: 15 lbs 8.5 oz (50 %)
head cir.: 17 inches (75 %)

dr's apt went GREAT! noah is right on target for a 4 month old! super healthy and getting so big! both jamie and i were wrong with our guesses of 17 or 18 lbs, but hey, he's almost 16! i can't believe he's the same baby we brought home who only weighed 6 lbs and 13 oz! the dr. gave the green light for cereal and solids (well mushy..lol) foods! we attempted some cereal as soon as we got home and again it didn't go so well...but it's ok...we'll just keep on trying!
dr. said to start with veggies for this month and next month we can move on to fruits! :) i'll post some pics tonight after we try SWEET POTATOES!!

thanks Shanna!!!

thanks to my good friend Shanna, i've been awarded my first blogger award...the Great Atitude/Gratitude Award! THANKS!! :)  so i've got to pass it on now! so mom, here's to you!! happy blog award day!! :)

really real life

me and my sisters have this inside joke...when something is really funny or looks fake or is just too good to believe we ask, "are those your really real nails?"...it's a long story...don't know why i wanted to tell you that but i was just thinking about it

ok back to really real life ;)

{this is how your valentine's day goes when you have an almost 4 month old}

jamie and i had a lazy day at home with noah and started getting ready to go around 3 in the afternoon...we loaded up the car and headed to Sky Vue (our favorite getaway, i'll fill you in another time!).  just as we were about to get on the interstate my baby sister called me to say that she was locked out of the house and had left her car keys in her room, so she had no way to get to work later that day, could i pretty pretty please drive over and open the back door for her (both my parents and my middle sister were out of town already for v-day)....so reluctantly jamie and i drove over and let her in the house...the whole time jamie was saying, "let her call a locksmith!" we were a little frazzled...
we finally got to SkyVue around 5:30 or 6. we were in cabin #6, our favorite! it's where we honeymooned :) we ordered our yummy yummy pizza...[good time to throw in the fact that i ate pizza every night for valentines weekend, from 3 different restaurants! it was all yummy!] we ate our pizza with my mom and dad who were also staying at SkyVue. then we decided to watch the old school Robin Hood, you know the one with the singing rooster and robin hood is a fox...jamie happens to love love love old cartoons... (make that all cartoons - we've watched Ratatouille about a hundred times!) well we fell asleep...about an hour into it, jamie laying on the recliner with noah on his chest and me stretched out on the couch. we woke up at 9:30! you can laugh out loud right now, yes we fell asleep at about 8 i think! only to wake up and go straight back to bed. we didn't have anywhere for noah to sleep, so we just made him a little cocoon right there in between us in our king size Sky Vue bed! noah has slept in bed with us on occasion, but not on a regular basis... we were not prepared for the events that occurred...

noah woke up at 10:30 pm...to eat...

and at 2:00 am...just to cry and say, "hi mom, thought you should wake up"...

and at 4:45 am to eat again...

and at 6:30 am to eat yet again and to cuddle with daddy. :) mommy went back to sleep!

.... it wasn't a good night...

we dragged ourselves out of bed sunday morning for a good homemade breakfast at the Lodge...mmm some kind of fritata (breakfast casserole), fruit, and homemade bread! yummy yummy!! {how did this story end up being mostly about food??} then we ran back to the cabin to take a nap since we hadn't slept much that night.

not the most romantic valentines day ever, but we still had lots of fun and relaxation...and we got to spend lots of one on one time with our favorite little valentine, noah! :) cause that's what life's really really about right now!

Sky Vue in 1938...isn't it quaint?!

looking back at my favorite valentine's day

it was 2005, jamie and i had been dating for 6 months...i was still away at college, coming in only on the weekends to see my sweetie. it was our first valentines together and i wanted our valentines day and 6 month anniversary festivities to be the same night, February 12. i decided to cook (this involved me opening a frozen lasagna and sticking in the oven at jamie's apartment and opening a bottle of sparkling grape juice!), i bought "The Notebook" and even made some crafty gifts for jamie (they hang in my closet now!).

When jamie came home from work that night he was greeted by the warm glow of candles, soft romantic music, and a semi-homemade dinner! We watched The Notebook together and ate the yummy meal i had labored over for hours and hours..laugh with me...next it was time for the gift exchange. i presented jamie with my "coupon book" and crafty gift which he loved. then jamie pulled out the gifts he had gotten for me...a HUGE green stuffed frog which was holding a big red heart in it's hands! i think there was another gift, but oops i can't remember! After opening gifts jamie asked me to dance right there in the living room :) so cheesy and so cute! after a few songs we sat down on the couch and jamie said he was feeling sick and was very very sweaty... :/ he got up and said he needed to go to the bathroom... he was gone for a LONG time!

just about the time i was thinking he had died in there, he came out, still as sweaty as before and pulled me over to the couch. sitting on the floor, he held my hands and occasionally hid his nervous face on my lap. we kissed and made small talk and went over how quickly our relationship had moved over the last six months.

We had met right after i graduated from high school and had formed a friendship over that summer. It wasn't until i was about to leave for college that Jamie finally let me know that he liked me, he really liked me. We knew it would be difficult to date with me just starting college in a town about an hour away, but we knew we could make it work...and now when i look back at that the hour drive really wasn't that long! I think that from the very beginning we both knew we had something special...i didn't date very much during high school, unlike jamie who had dated just about anyone in a skirt. our friendship had made it easy to date, we didn't feel like we had to hide our true selves from each other we were already comfortable being our goofy selves and we were so in love from the start. in a way it was this fact that made what was coming next feel so right, so natural...but i still had no idea!

Jamie  "did you like your gifts?"
kacee "umm yeah..i really liked the frog, he's so cute!"
jamie "well i have one more gift for you."
kacee (in a totally joking manner holds left hand out and waves her ring finger like a mad woman) "i'm waiting!!!"
jamie (pulls out ring, which he had retrieved from it's hiding place in the bathroom) "i love you so much, will you marry me?!"
kacee "are you serious? i was just joking! are you for real?? like really??!!! YES YES!!!"

my favorite valentine's day!

Kacee's Husband - sneak attack!

I just had to post something on here! Kacee absolutely loves posting and reading these blogs so I thought I'd slip this in without her knowing. :) She's probably the best mom in the world and such a great wife. I am sucking up but this is the truth. If she can put up with me then she can do anything. I love my son Noah - look down a bit and you'll see some pics of him. Cutest kid in the world. Anyway - over and out for this non-blogger :)

everything but the kitchen sink...

looonnnngggg day at work, followed by a yummy meal (made by my mommy!!) of chicken and dumplings, and a fussy little boy who went to sleep at *excited squeal* 8:30!!!!! i know, he's great right!?

then at 10 i got the crazy notion to rearrange the kitchen! i don't know why but i suddenly had all this energy and i just HAD to clean behind the microwave and clean out that little trap under the toaster cause you know that hadn't been done in at least a year! LOL! i shudder to think what Kate would think of me! i'm sure that even with 8 kids she still manages to pull everything out and clean it at least once a week! (and i'm sorry but if you don't know which Kate i'm referring to, well i just feel sorry for you!)

so my question to you tonight is...when's the last time you cleaned out from behind your microwave?? a month, a year, or are you the kind of person...uhhrmm me...who doesn't think about things like that and hasn't done it since she begged and pleaded for her hubbs to "please, please, please buy me a new microwave so it won't overheat my plates anymore" about 2 years ago...yikes...did i really just tell on myself??!! why yes i did...only to say this....

yes, i too like a clean house but in my old age (ha! i'm only 22!) i have come to realize that cleaning out from behind the microwave isn't all that important in the long run. this is what is important to me right now....

*noah - he reached for me today when i got home from work...seeing his face light up when he sees me is my biggest joy *jamie - i love him now more than ever...our relationship is constantly changing, for the better, and seeing him as a daddy makes me love him in a whole new way*my esther bible study, Lord help me get through at least 1 chapter!!! i love getting deeper into the Bible, it truly is fascinating*my family*my relationship with my Heavenly Father - growing by baby steps everyday, "baby steps out the door, baby steps onto the elevator" (name that movie!)*

take a minute to think about what is really important to you right now...then go clean out from behind your microwave, or fridge if you're really really good! :)

ps. a spider crawled out from under my toaster...seriously...i'm not eating anything that has to be toasted for a long time, so long Eggos :(
